Several people have sent this video noting its profundity and usefulness.

I look at the theory of motivation depicted as a system of management theory couched in pseudo democratic key words of autonomy (as defined by alloted time), mastery (but really a merit system measured by mgt.) and purpose (as defined by the company or the leaders).

Pink is a popularizer of organizational theories for profit. I would suggest that motivation comes from one's own definition of "freedom from" and "freedom to" (autonomy), craftsmanship verified by one's own principles and the market, opportunity to make and create one's own visions, purposes and etc, and the last motivation I would put in is the sense of obligation and responsibilities one feels towards other and the environment.
