You Ask with the Eyes
Coca-cola has been running full page ads in the Wall Street Journal all of last week. The ads state,
“Increasingly, Americans are realizing the importance of living a balanced, healthy lifestyle. We see that.”
We see it also. Obesity rates, as we all know, are skyrocketing. Diabetes and heart disease rates continue to increase. People need electric scooters for locomotion. It’s not pretty.
So Coke is here to provide us with knowledge, portion control options, and school guidelines. (Junk food corporations dictating school policy? But I digress.)
I went to their “knowledge” center, located at the healthily url’ed www.livepositively.com. In their Q & A section, under “Calories” they inform:
Q. Are sparkling beverages full of “empty calories”?
A. Sparkling beverages are refreshing beverages that hydrate. People who don’t want to consume extra calories in their beverages can choose from among a wide range of low-calorie and no-calorie Coca-Cola products in both sparkling and still varieties.
Well, are they?
It reminds me of Troy Polamalu’s recent advertisement:
Is it just a coincidence that Troy does ads for Coke?

That's great looking hair
