I'm in my last year of business school (CSULB) . I started purchasing the old edition of text books a few semesters ago. I finally had enough confidence to boycott these new releases. It's disgusting to see publishing companies take advantage of students, their parents, and financial aid providers in this way. This semester I'm using a Finance textbook I purchased over six years ago by the same author. The chapters content is the same, only in a different order. Most student's don't bother to do the research for themselves, i.e. compare the old edition to the new edition and see it for themselves. I'm also disappointed in the education system which allows this to go on. Where needed, I supplement the textbook by looking up information on line. Like you said Bill, you can find a lot of good, free information online. I'm bothered by teachers who pressure students to get the new edition. I won't be bullied anymore!

I hope regulation of the textbook publishing industry will alleviate this situation and free up more for the actual tuition fees (a whole other subject that needs to be dissected!) Finally, incase there are any concerns about using the older edition, I received an 'A' in Business Law (BLAW 310) and a 'B' in Business Statistics (IS 310) last semester.
